How To Play Ips Roms

Download and extract the patch (patch files are in.ips format) and correct ROM file. Romhacking.net has a huge database of patches (translations/bug fixes/rom hacks). Make sure you download the correct ROM file for the patch. Make sure the rom you’ve selected is in.z64 format. This is the most common file type for Nintendo 64 roms but a few variations exist that aren’t compatible with Flips or many other rom hacking tools. Check any documentation written by the modder whose patch your downloading to find out which region or version your rom must be. Roms are illegal to download and since thess hacks are built upon specific roms the creators can legally send their patch in an ips file. Then you can patch your copy of the rom with the ips file and play the game. Use the sidebar to find patching prgrams like lunar ips level 2.

IPS PATCHINGWhat you need:
1: You need the orginal rom. You can't play the IPS file in an emulator.
2: You need the IPS file.
3: You need an IPS patcher.
Using SNESTOOL.EXE:
1: Open snestool.
2: Select 'use ips'.
3: Select the IPS file.
4: Select the rom file you need to apply it to. Remember to make a backup of the original rom file!
5: Run the rom file you patched in your favorite emulator.
Using IPS PLUS:
1: Put ips.exe in a folder together with the rom and the IPS file. Remember to make a backup of the original rom file!
2: Go to the dos prompt and go to the directory you put everything in.
3: Type: IPS [ROM NAME] [IPS NAME]. Replace [ROM NAME] with the rom file name and [IPS NAME] with the IPS file name.
4: Run the rom file you patched in your favorite emulator.
Using ZSNES: (Only for SNES games!)
1: Rename the rom so its called the same as the IPS patch. (If your IPS is named 1.IPS, name the rom 1.SMC)
2: Put the rom and the IPS file in the same directory (or the save directory you use if you have one).
3: Load the rom in ZSNES.
4: The rom is not modified if you use this method. This method may not work with all games.

This guide will show you how to patch ROMs to apply translations, bug fixes, or modifications (also known as ROM hacks) to the game. Patching ROMs is very useful and can give you access to even more games for your SNES Classic Mini. You can patch games that were only available in Japan and add English translations to many great Japan exclusive SNES titles like Magical Pop'n, Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu, Seiken Densetsu 3, and more. You can apply patches to modify games and play popular ROM hacks like Super Mario World: Return to Dinosaur Land, Metroid Super Zero Mission, Link to the Past: Parallel Worlds, and many others.

1. Download and extract Lunar IPS and TUSH to your computer.

2. Download and extract the patch (patch files are in .ips format) and correct ROM file.

Romhacking.net has a huge database of patches (translations/bug fixes/rom hacks). Make sure you download the correct ROM file for the patch. Note: You are patching the ROM, therefore you will need to download the original ROM file. I usually just download a ROM with the same name as the one listed under 'ROM / ISO Information' (in this example I would look for a ROM titled 'Super Mario World (USA).sfc'.
